Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

Zubimendi is a target for Arsenal as they look to add a new midfielder in the summer after Jorginho was set to leave the club, while Thomas Partey is out of contract at the end of the season and is in talks over a new deal.
Liverpool came close to signing Zubimendi last summer, and got initial positive responses, but eventually the player decided to remain. Real Madrid were also credit with an interest this summer. Incoming new manager Xabi Alonso certainly appreciates his profile, but Real never made a meaningful move. GMS understands Zubimendi was also reticent to leave Sociedad and stay in LaLiga.
